Policies for Classes and Frequently Asked Questions, Answered

    • Refunds: Blue Ridge Rescue and Safety operates on a strict no-refund policy for all registrations.

    • Rescheduling (7+ Days Notice): If you notify us at least 7 days prior to your scheduled session, you are eligible for a one-time courtesy reschedule to the next available class date. Please note that future class locations may vary based on schedule availability. Send an email to: Lesley@blueridgerescuesafety.com or use the contact form.

    • Late Notice (Less than 72 Hours): Cancellations or changes made less than 72 hours before the session are completely non-refundable and ineligible for a courtesy reschedule. At this stage, venue fees and training resources have already been locked in and committed.

    • Late Arrival: Prompt attendance is required. If you arrive more than 20 minutes late, you will not be admitted to the classroom and must re-register for a new session. American Red Cross curriculum standards require mandatory participation in the early skills practice blocks, which cannot be made up once the group has advanced.

      Instructor Cancellation & Emergencies

    • Unexpected Cancellations: While we make every effort to host scheduled sessions, Blue Ridge Rescue and Safety reserves the right to cancel a class due to instructor illness, severe weather, or unforeseen venue closures.

      • Your Options: If we must cancel a class, you will be notified as soon as possible via email and text. You will receive the choice of either a full refund of your registration fee or a priority transfer to any future scheduled session at no additional cost.

  • Digital certificates are issued via email within 24–48 hours of successful completion and receipt of full payment.

  • For all Blended Learning classes, the American Red Cross requires your online coursework to be completed prior to the in-person skills session. By law and regulation, students who do not present verifiable proof of completion cannot be admitted to the classroom and will forfeit their registration fee.

To ensure your check-in goes smoothly, please review these certification standards:

    • Acceptable Proof: You must present an official, verifiable American Red Cross completion certificate featuring a valid QR code or verification ID. You can show a digital PDF copy on your phone or bring a printed copy to class.

    • Strict No-Screenshot Policy: Informal screenshots of progress screens, completed course modules, or external training platforms are not valid and will not be accepted as proof.

    • Organization Requirement: Blue Ridge Rescue and Safety is an authorized American Red Cross provider. We cannot accept certifications or online prerequisites completed through the American Heart Association (AHA) or any other organization.

    • Course Level Requirement: You must complete the exact online module assigned for your specific class. Completing a different course level (such as a healthcare-level Basic Life Support / BLS module for a standard workplace CPR/First Aid class) does not fulfill the requirement, even if the material overlaps.

    • External Red Cross Certificates: If you accidentally completed the correct, matching American Red Cross module through a different link or licensed provider, your official Red Cross certificate is perfectly acceptable.

  • If you do not complete the online prerequisite coursework prior to your scheduled in-person session, Red Cross regulations strictly prohibit me from admitting you to the class. As an authorized training provider, I cannot bypass or waive this requirement under any circumstances.

If this occurs, you will need to reschedule for a future session. However, your progress is not lost. Once you do finish the online portion, your Red Cross completion certificate is valid for any corresponding skills session, whether with Blue Ridge Rescue and Safety or another licensed training provider.

  • It is a hybrid format. You complete the "book work" and videos online at your own pace before we meet. This significantly reduces our in-person classroom time, focusing our live session solely on hands-on skills.

  • Yes. As an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider, I provide OSHA-compliant certification that meets most workplace, regulatory, and professional requirements.

  • The Red Cross offers different levels of certification based on your role. My current public and on-demand sessions are focused on Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED for the general community, workplace, and childcare providers. If you are a healthcare professional, you likely need Basic Life Support (BLS). Please double-check your employer’s specific requirements before booking, as "standard" CPR often does not meet the specialized requirements for clinical healthcare roles.

  • Public classes are hosted at local venues in the Bluemont and surrounding region. For On-Demand sessions, I can come directly to your home or place of business, or we can coordinate a third-party space.

  • Public seats are paid for online at the time of booking via credit card. On-Demand groups are invoiced through a secure business platform once a date is confirmed. We accept all major credit cards and ACH transfers.

  • Absolutely. For group sessions, I bring all the CPR and first aid practice equipment to you. Fill out the inquiry form found in the On Demand page and will work work together to determine the space and IT equipment needed.

  • Yes! I am committed to making CPR training accessible. While the Red Cross requires certain physical maneuvers for full certification, we can discuss "reasonable accommodations" or "audit" options so you can still learn these life-saving skills. Please contact me before booking so we can plan ahead.

  • If you have 6 or more people, an On-Demand class is usually easier. It allows us to pick a date that works for your schedule and train everyone at once in your office. If you only have 1 or 2 staff members, sending them to a Public Class listed in our Class Schedule is more cost-effective.

  • Your safety is a priority. I follow strict Red Cross hygiene protocols. All manikins are thoroughly sanitized after every use, and we use single-use, disposable lungs and individual face shields for every student.

  • For individual seats, visit our Upcoming Classes calendar to book and pay instantly. For group sessions, use our Group/Private Training Request page to start the inquiry process.

  • My goal is your confidence, not a grade. We will practice until you feel comfortable. Most students find the hands-on coaching makes the process very straightforward.

  • Yes. Blue Ridge Rescue & Safety, LLC is fully insured for General Liability. If your venue requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI), please request it at least five business days before your session.
